Our tentative Calendar of activities for 2012 is ready and available for download! Calendar contains public holidays, major vrats and festivals, Mashik Shivratree and Poornima (Laxmi Narayan ki katha) dates as well as proposed dates for the monthly Hanuman Abhishek. Shrawan Maas 2011

The Holy month of Shrawaan Maas has started on Saturday 16th July 2011 and will last for 29 days this year, culminating on Saturday 13th August 2011 (Raksha Bandhan). Shiv Abhishek are being held twice daily at 5 am and 6 pm under the leadership and guidance of Acharya Vijay Joshi.

A different samaan is offered on each day of prayer while different types of juices are used for the daily abhishek. Lots of devotees have been participating in the prayers and the preferred days are usually when lamps (diyas) and money are offered. It is worth noting that some devotees do perform all of the 29 abhishek and fast for the whole month of Shrawan.

Hindu Ekta awarded Medaille de la Cite

It is with great pride and honour that our association was awarded “La Médaille de la Cité de Port Louis” 2010 on 30th July 2010. In fact, Hindu Ekta was among 13 associations and NGOs of the city to have been selected for he award giving ceremony which was held in the Municipal Council Room.

The award was symbolically collected by one of our Honorary President Mr Balmick Sibsurrun from the hands of the Lord Mayor Mr Sheik Muktar Hossenbaccus. Mr Subsurrun also delivered a vibrant speech for the occasion, enumerating the different socio-cultural achievements of our association during the past years as well as heartfully thanking the DPM, Dr Rasheed Beebeejaun, for all his assistance and support to the citizens of our locality.

2010 Calendar of Activities

Goodbye 2009 and welcome 2010!!! Same as every year, 2010 will also be another year full of activities and ceremonies. The first major event in our calendar - Maha Shivratri is coming up by leaps and bounds. Bamboo sticks have been cut earlier this time (Sunday 27th Dec 09) - see some pics...
